About
Hi, my name is Gideon. This is a blog that started out being about my adventures in science, maths and computer programming, but grew into a blog about many aspects of my life.
"The Aperiodic Crystal" is named after a lecture by Schrödiner called "What is Life?" In it he lays out a theoretical argument for the existence of what he called an aperiodic crystal: a molecule that, by physical law, must be chemically stable (crystalline) but must also be able to encode the processes of life (aperiodic). I still find the lecture inspiring in its innocence, curiosity and brilliance.
